Note: This issue can have various causes – the following sources will help you: • “Starting Drivers. Please wait” after deploying BIOS P89 v2.40 () and/or ILO Firmware 2.50 () – -> read on in this blog post below • • Issue: After deploying BIOS P89 v2.40 () and/or ILO Firmware 2.50 () an HP DL380 Gen9 Server stops during early BIOS boot sequence at the following message: “Starting drivers. ![]() Please wait, this may take a few moments” Note: BIOS P89 v.2.40 is part of the HPE SPP from April 2017 (SPP 04/2017) It seems, that there is a problem when you install BIOS B89 v2.40 in combination with the ILO Firmware v2.50. A possible workaround is to downgrade the ILO Firmware to Version 2.40. Workaround: • download -> cp027575.exe • extract the content of cp027575.exe to C: temp • connect to the ILO of the affected host • go to “Administration” – “Firmware” • select the file “ilo4_240.bin” from C: temp • click “Upload” to start the downgrade • Done! When done, please check that you use the following combination: BIOS P89 v2.40 () with ILO Firmware v2.40 (). For those having the “starting drivers please wait issue”, this is my findings. If I do an Automatic update with either HPP SPP 2017.04 or 2017.01 or 2017.02 I get this error. I Have now tracked it down and did another 9x HP BL460C G9’s without issue. Run an interactive update and only update BIOS to 2.40 2. Make sure you can boot post this update only 3. Next, run HPP interactive again and you may update the rest of firmware but not the ILO! Make sure you can reboot 5. Update your ILO firmware from the ILO to 2.54 using the standalone bin file 6.
